
Administrative Assistant - Independent Contractor, Part-Time

Position Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Administrative Assistant to support our Vice President in advancing our nonprofit education startup's mission to serve university and K-12 students. This remote, part-time, independent contractor position helps to ensure the Vice President can focus on strategic priorities, including board relations, program development, and organizational growth.
Key Responsibilities​

Executive Support: Be a liaison between the Vice President and board members, funders, volunteers, external partners, and other stakeholders. Schedule meetings for the Vice President. Prepare materials for meetings, including agendas, presentations, and briefing documents. Assist the Vice President with correspondence and communications as needed.

Board Support: Coordinate logistics for board and committee meetings, including scheduling, venue arrangements, and distribution of materials. Maintain board records, track action items from meetings, and follow up on outstanding deliverables. Assist with onboarding new board members and maintaining updated board contact information.

Program and Development Support: Organize and maintain files related to programming and fundraising activities. Assist with research to support program development and grant proposals. Track deadlines for grant reports, program deliverables, and strategic milestones.

General Administrative Functions: Manage office systems and processes to support organizational efficiency. Proofread correspondence and documents.

Candidates do not need to fulfill all criteria to be considered.​​

2–3 years of administrative experience, preferably supporting nonprofit leadership

Exceptional organizational skills with proven ability to manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines

Outstanding written and verbal communication skills

High degree of professionalism and discretion when handling confidential information

Proficiency in Google Workspace; familiarity with AI writing and editing tools is a plus.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining strong attention to detail

Commitment to providing students with the skills they need to gather, evaluate, and communicate information accurately and responsibly.
Hours and Compensation
10–15 hours/month
Hourly rate: $25–35/hour, commensurate with experience
